BASIC APPROACHES AND NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR ASSASSING THE LEVEL OF ECONOMIC SECURITY OF UKRAINE

Abstract

Purpose and relevance of the topic. The modern security environment, existing challenges and threats make adjustments to the existence of the entire society and our state in particular. Changes in the global economic space and an increase in the degree of openness of the national economy lead to the need to assess the level of economic security. The issue of the methodology for assessing the level of economic security is one of the most important. Recently, it has become increasingly popular to draw conclusions about the state of the state's economy based on the analysis of indicators and indices of international ratings. The article analyzes the domestic experience of calculating the level of economic security, summarizes and examines world practice. The purpose of the article is to study the global experience of assessing economic security for the possibility of analyzing and forecasting macroeconomic indicators important for Ukraine, maintaining an appropriate level of economic security. Methodology (methods) of research. To achieve the main goal of the article, the methods of retrospective analysis, synthesis and systemic approach were applied. The results obtained. In view of Ukraine's choice of the path to European integration, for an objective analysis of the assessment of the effectiveness of state policy in the field of national and economic security, the study of the current experience of the EU and NATO member states in the field of ensuring economic security is positive. In countries with a high level of economic development, economic security and economic resilience are measured by the basic units of the market economy system. To characterize the current threats to economic security and means of achieving its targets, such an economic category as "competitiveness" is used. The competitiveness of the national economy is considered as one of the criteria for the economic security of the state and one of the means of maintaining its economic resilience. The author's special attention is directed to the issue of studying and analyzing world methods, researching their advantages and disadvantages. It has been proven that when assessing the level of economic security of the state, it is advisable to apply a comprehensive approach: take into account the national indicator of the level of economic security and the indices of international ratings. This, in turn, will provide an opportunity to obtain a reliable and objective assessment of the country's rating in the global dimension, protect national interests, support sustainable economic development and competitiveness of the country on the world stage, and ensure a sufficient level of economic security and economic resilience. Practical value of the article. The practical significance of the study lies in the development of methodological foundations for improving the methodology of assessing the level of economic security as a means of strengthening the economic security and economic resilience of the state.
