RECREATION FACTORS OF DEVELOPMENT HOTEL AND RESTAURANT BUSINESS IN UKRAINE
Abstract
The article examines the development processes of the hotel and restaurant business in Ukraine over the past 15 years. Their positive dynamics were revealed, with the exception of periods of objective force majeure (war and pandemic). Such a successful development was facilitated by our country's provision of recreational resources. The availability and possibilities of using recreational resources have a positive effect on the development of the hotel and restaurant business. Their role is constantly growing, because in modern conditions, the needs of psychophysiological recovery and full-fledged rest of the population are also constantly growing. This especially applies to the population of Ukraine, which is under permanent stress from February 24, 2022 due to the war unleashed by russia. However, a significant part of recreational resources in Ukraine due to russian aggression are temporarily lost or unavailable for use. The most tangible is the loss of the Azov and Black Sea coasts for recreational use, as well as the destruction of the Kakhov reservoir. Therefore, mass beach tourism actually stopped, with corresponding consequences for the hotel and restaurant business. After the de-occupation, a considerable period of time will be required for demining the coast and the water area and eliminating the consequences of hostilities. Recreational resources of the de-occupied territories will gradually return to economic circulation. At the same time, we should expect a sharp increase in recreational demand due to the return of the population to a peaceful life and the growth of its income. This will cause a shortage of recreational resources and become an inhibiting factor for the development of the hotel and restaurant business. To prevent such a situation, a policy of intensifying the development and use of local recreational resources should be carried out in advance. The common principles of local recreation policy for all regions and communities should be to facilitate access to local infrastructure for hotel and restaurant business entities, their ecologically neutral functioning, and their observance of the principle of inclusiveness in the process of using recreational resources.
